Areas of expertise

The key to the optimum workshop and/or warehouse solution is to ensure that the client’s requirements are signalled at an early stage in the process. A clear layout, well defined building interfaces and of course equipment specifications mean more efficient building, purchasing and realization later on. In essence, the earlier we start, the greater the ultimate gain.

Gemco International is a specialist in the consultancy and design of maintenance workshops and warehouses, a project-oriented organization with engineering expertise and experience to successfully carry out turnkey projects. And, of course, with the professionals, expertise and experience to handle larger, integrated projects that require good communication and flexibility to adapt to wishes and needs of our partners. Our track record includes consultancy for and execution of various projects for global contractors and international organizations in more than 45 countries worldwide.

Studies

When a detailed plan for a workshop and/or warehouse is needed, Gemco International can perform a FEED study. FEED, short for Front-End Engineering & Design, means a solid base for your project. During this stage Gemco International can generate a ‘workshop specifications’ document, containing general and machine specifications, technical documentation, layouts and foundation drawings.

Design

During the design phase, Gemco International can undertake a consultancy study to generate deliverables such as a ‘workshop specifications’ document that comprises general and machine specifications, utility information, conditions and drawings. Once the specifications have been agreed, the design can be detailed in preparation for procurement. A detailed design gives the client a head start in realizing the project.

Throughout the successive stages of the project Gemco International will be responsible for the overall project management including the detailed design, supply and the on-site supervision of installation and commissioning.

Buying all the equipment for a workshop and/or a warehouse may involve hundreds of suppliers and thousands of items. Thanks to our extensive and worldwide network of suppliers, we are able to purchase the right equipment for a competitive price.

Equally important is the technical documentation of the equipment that will be produced, handled and supplied as part of the overall project responsibility. Correct documentation is necessary for a successful project execution.

Strict quality control procedures ensure that the equipment is suited to project requirements and local conditions. During an inspection the equipment will be checked on compliance with the detailed specifications and purchase order requirements. In addition items are checked for damages, general appearance and good workmanship.

Supplying all the equipment for a workshop and/or a warehouse is a very complex logistical process that may involve hundreds of suppliers and thousands of items. Depending on the type of equipment, the type of project and client requirements, the items are packed and shipped directly from the manufacturers, and if required to the project site, or are first consolidated in our own warehouse in the Netherlands and packed and shipped from there.

Throughout the successive stages of the project Gemco International will be responsible for the overall project management including the on-site supervision of installation and commissioning, and the client has the benefit of a single point of contact. An expert of Gemco International will be present during the installation of the machinery and will check the equipment, in cooperation with the client. At the end of the installation process, all the equipment will be commissioned and handed over to the client.

Gemco International provides proper training for designated operators as well as assistance with the design and implementation of maintenance systems, schedules and procedures. This training could be designed for operating one or more of the machines installed. Based on our experience in previous projects, Gemco International can advise you on setting up regulations for maintenance. So we do not only provide a complete and working warehouse and/or workshop, but also make sure it will stay that way for many years to come.

Our international network enables us to provide after sales services that encompass guarantees on the upkeep and repair of the equipment and the rapid replacement of spare parts. Gemco International can rely on fully qualified engineers with extensive experience of working with various types of equipment. Designated engineers are able to calculate step-by-step preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.

The availability of consumables and spare parts is guaranteed through agreements with equipment manufacturers. Gemco International makes use of local offices, partnerships and agents to provide all the necessary services, which include after sales for equipment and tools as well as local client service points. Our global network of suppliers and manufacturers means that the client has direct access to extended after sales services (spare parts and expertise).
